IWZ ecoprojects provides engineering services for mechanical plastics recycling, from initial concept and permit/allowance phase to detailed engineering, project execution, commissioning, and process optimization.
Our expertise covers polyolefins (films and rigid plastics) and PET, with clear focus on producing high-quality recyclates that meet demanding quality and market requirements.
01
Plant Engineering
Full plant engineering of mechanical recycling core processes for Polyolefins and PET, from process definition to detailed engineering of every part of the plant. Cross-linked with supporting systems, including wastewater treatment, material storage, and residual waste handling.
02
Process Engineering
Proven and innovative process concepts for the recycling of polyolefins and PET. Every stage of the process, from pre-shredding and sorting to washing, extrusion, and filtration, is analysed, engineered, and optimized to achieve consistently high-quality recyclates.
03
Project Management
End-to-end project management from initial concept and feasibility stage to engineering, project execution, and commissioning. We coordinate all project stakeholders and ensure efficient schedule, cost, and quality management throughout the project.
Our services include the full permitting process, from early consultation with the relevant authorities and permit applications to ongoing coordination and regulatory support throughout the project.
04
Environmental Engineering & Infrastructure
Sustainability, safety, and regulatory compliance are integrated from the outset. We design wastewater treatment systems, closed-loop water and material circuits, and the infrastructure required for modern recycling plants, delivering safe, compliant, and economically viable solutions.
05
Fire Protection & Plant Safety
Fire protection is a critical aspect of recycling plant design, directly affecting insurability, permitting, and operational availability. Contaminants such as lithium batteries or pressurized gas containers can ignite during shredding, while dust and plastic films can accelerate fire spread.
We develop comprehensive fire protection concepts for both new and existing recycling plants, from risk assessments and early fire detection to extinguishing systems, fire compartmentation, and organizational safety measures. In close collaboration with specialized engineering partners, we coordinate approvals with authorities and insurance companies to ensure safe, compliant, and insurable facilities.
06
Feedstock Supply & Residual Material Recovery
We analyse available feedstock streams, develop sourcing strategies, and assess material quality to ensure a reliable supply of the right input materials, based both on spot market and long term contracting. For residual materials generated during the recycling process, we identify recovery and utilization opportunities that reduce disposal costs and retain value within the circular economy.
07
Process Optimization
We take a holistic approach to analysing and optimizing existing recycling processes, both operationally and technically. Our focus is on increasing throughput and plant availability, reducing energy and water consumption, and improving recyclate quality. We also optimize the use of additives, processing aids, and process chemicals. Through our Performance Check, we identify untapped potential and develop tailored measures for more efficient, profitable, and sustainable plant operations.
08
Compliance & CE Conformity
We support companies in achieving CE conformity for new plants from the earliest stages of an investment project while also helping optimize existing facilities to meet current legal and regulatory requirements. Our services include the preparation of comprehensive plant documentation, including operating procedures, work instructions, maintenance concepts, inspection documentation, and technical records, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient plant operation.
From Waste to Resource
Reclaimed for the Circular Economy
We engineer recycling plants that transform plastic waste into high-quality recyclates, keeping valuable materials in the circular economy.
OUR APPROACH
Three Phases to a Fully Operational Plant
A structured approach from concept to commissioning, with clearly defined milestones, seamless handovers, and full cost transparency.

Strategy, Concept & Process Design
Consulting & Planning
Consulting, feasibility assessment, and project development tailored to your requirements. Process design for polyolefins (films and rigid plastics) and PET, including wastewater treatment and supporting process systems.
02
Plant Concept & CAPEX
Concept & Investment Planning
Development of the overall plant concept, including infrastructure, logistics, and storage areas, together with CAPEX planning and civil engineering requirements.
03
Project Execution & Commissioning
Implementation & Operations Support
Installation, commissioning, and ramp-up, supported by performance reviews and operational assistance until stable production is achieved, all backed by our own owner-operator experience.
A Cross-Phase Perspective
Commercial Viability
CAPEX, OPEX, feedstock availability, and recyclate marketing are considered from the very beginning, not only after commissioning. The result is a recycling plant that not only operates reliably but also delivers long-term commercial value.
